Featured Book: Jacobs Garden
Jacob's Garden is beloved by all for its beauty and for Jacob's devotion to each of his precious flowers' care, so when Leroy the flower shop owner demands that one flower is more beautiful than the others, Jacob must find a way to restore his flowers' faith in him and themselves. Written by a mother for her daughters to embolden them in their journey of understanding beauty's origin, purpose, and power. The oral version of Jacobs Garden lived in the hearts of her daughters until one of them grew up and created the hand-cut illustrations.

"Pixie opened fully and the crowd cheered louder!" Creating characters to personify the garden was the greatest honor. Pulling from the personalities Sherri gave each flower then imagining the women who embody those qualities resulted in quite a few of my friends making appearances throughout the story. Each flower is individually cut and layered into the illustration. This project taught me to NEVER glue anything down until every piece is cut and assembled! I also found my style to be very forgiving. This image especially hides quite a few mistakes and redo’s, but I like that whole journey is represented in the final product.
